The Company’s Fundamentals Are Increasingly Stronger
Solid cooperation between the Board of Directors and the Board of Commissioners has succeeded in making Mitratel the largest TowerCo company in Southeast Asia in terms of tower ownership. Not only that, Mitratel has also successfully become a company that consistently achieves net profit growth with increasingly strong fundamentals. For this reason, the company envisions achieving double-digit revenue growth in 2023.
This week, Mitratel just completed the acquisition of 803 towers worth IDR 1.75 trillion and took over 967.1 kilometers of fiber optics worth IDR 85 billion. This corporate action increased the number of tenants by 1,327 new tenants and increased the company’s tenancy ratio.
Of the 803 towers acquired, 562 towers or 70% of them are outside Java Island. While the remaining 30% or 241 towers are located on Java Island. This additional asset composition confirms MTEL’s commitment to becoming a strategic partner for the telecommunications operator industry in expanding throughout the country.
“Strengthening market share outside Java has become a strategic agenda for a number of telecommunications operator companies. This expansion is in line with the increasing demand for internet in various regions along with equitable distribution of economic growth. As a major player in this business and with a high opportunity to become an end-to-end telecommunications infrastructure provider, we definitely must be at the frontline in helping their expansion,” said Mitratel President Director Theodorus Ardi Hartoko.
From a fundamental perspective, Mitratel posted an 11.9% rise in revenue from IDR 5.6 trillion at the end of September 2022 to IDR 6.3 trillion at the end of September 2023 [year on year/ yoy]. Mitratel Acquires 967,1 Km Fiber Optic
JAKARTA – Focused and consistent on being the largest digital infrastructure company (Digital Infraco) in Indonesia, PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk. (MTEL) or Mitratel has acquired 967,1 Km fiber optic under the ownership of PT Power Telecom with 1,144.7 Km billable length. This new fiber-optic network has strategic value for completing tower business portfolios with a billable ratio of 1.18x. The entire optical network, as the object of this acquisition, is located on Java Island.
To execute this acquisition, the company allocated IDR 85 billion from internal funding. As a side note, the company allocated capital expenditures of IDR 7 trillion this year and had absorbed about 58% of the expenditures until the end of the Q3-2023. That suggests that MTEL possesses sufficient liquidity to fund the expansion of tower and fiber optic until the end of this year.
President Director of Mitratel, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, conveyed that the acquisition of fiber optic reflected the company’s commitment to expanding the market share while strengthening MTEL’s position as a strategic partner of the telecommunications operator industry in Indonesia. “Our persistence to consolidate tower business, fiber optic, and other services will establish MTEL as the largest Digital Infraco in the Asia Pacific,” stated Teddy, Theodorus’ nickname.
In the Q3-2023 performance report, MTEL recorded proprietorship of 37,091 towers, an increase of 5.8% compared to the same period last year of 35,051 towers. Meanwhile the number of collocations jumped 21% to 18,613 from the previous 15,339 collocations (yoy). Mitratel also succeeded in extending fiber optics from only 5,872 Km to 29,042 Km.
“We believe that the future business landscape of the telecommunications industry will be marked by the divestment of towers and fiber optics owned by the MNO industry. They do this because they want to focus more on product innovation that provides added value and fulfills consumer needs. This change is certainly an opportunity for Mitratel to become a strategic partner and grow with them,” said Teddy.
Teddy explained that the company will continue to expand its assets by acquiring both towers and fiber optic organically and inorganically, including acquiring divested assets from telecommunications operators. Prior to the length increase of the fiber optic at the end of September 2023, MTEL had also successfully acquired numerous towers, the majority of which were located on Sumatra Island.

“Expanding market share outside Java has become a strategic agenda for a number of telecommunications operator companies. Teddy explained that the purchase of 803 towers had strategic value not only because the majority of them were located outside Java. Mitratel Third Quarter Revenue Grows 11.9%, Net Profit Soars 16.6%
Mitratel Records Increase in Revenue and Net Profit in Quarter III-2023 of 36.62 Billion.
JAKARTA – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk. or Mitratel (MTEL)’s strategy to continue expansion and manage costs more efficiently, including through digitalization of business processes, has produced positive results. This is reflected in the company’s performance achievements in the third quarter of 2023 which was published today (30/10). Revenue grew rapidly, resulting in increased EBITDA and increased net profit.
Mitratel posted an 11.9% increase in revenue from IDR 5.6 trillion in the first nine months of 2022 to IDR 6.3 trillion in the first nine months of 2023 (yoy). This gain was driven by an increase in the number of towers and optical fibers, both organic and inorganic, along with an increase in the number of tenants and collocations.
“Since before the initial public offering (IPO) until today, we have continued to increase the number of towers and fiber optic, especially outside Java. Now, we are enjoying the results in the form of growth in the number of tenants and elevated revenue. Our forthcoming challenge is how to increase asset productivity as reflected in the increased tenancy ratio, and operational efficiency including through digitalization so that it has a positive impact on increasing margins,” said Theodorus Ardi Hartoko or Teddy, President Director of MTEL. The growth in tower ownership was successfully offset by an increase in the number of tenants by 10.5% to 55,704 tenants from 50,390 tenants (yoy). Meanwhile, the number of collocations jumped 21.3% to 18,613 from 15,339 collocations (yoy). Throughout this year, Mitratel also succeeded in extending fiber optics to 29,042 Km.
“We believe that the future business landscape of the telecommunications industry will be marked by the divestment of towers and fiber optic owned by the MNO industry. Telecommunication operators do this because they want to focus more on product innovation that provides added value and fulfills consumer needs. “This change is certainly an opportunity for Mitratel to become a strategic partner and grow with them,” said Teddy.
In the first nine months of 2023, Mitratel built 481 new towers and added 1,192 towers through acquisitions, so that the number of towers under the ownership of MTEL by the end of September 2023 reached 37,091 towers. This achievement makes Mitratel the TowerCo with the largest number of towers in Southeast Asia.
Mitratel’s tower distribution includes 15,505 towers in Java and 21,586 towers outside Java or around 58% of the total towers. This encouraged the growth of additional tenants outside Java by 11%, higher than in Java which was 10%. “This shows that the company’s strategy to expand and optimize growth outside Java is in line with the expansion strategy of cellular operators in Indonesia,” he said.
Apart from expansion in tower and fiber optic infrastructure as well as a focus on increasing asset productivity, the company also seeks to optimize digital technology in business processes. This enables the company to provide services that are relevant to customer needs, thereby providing higher added value. “We continue to increase digital adoption so that service to our partners becomes more precise, more effective and much more efficient,” he said.
These various enhancements contributed to an increase in EBITDA margin from 78.5% in September 2022 to 80.6% in September 2023. From total revenue of IDR 6.3 trillion, the company managed to record a net profit of IDR 1.43 trillion. This net profit jumped 16.6% from the same period last year.

Laba Bersih Mitratel Tembus Rp1.02T, Tumbuh 14.7%
Mitratel juga sedang menggarap bisnis Power as a Service (PaaS).

PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (Mitratel) Collaborates with BAZNAS to Distribute 3,467 Sacrificial Meat Packages
PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (Mitratel) cooperates with the Republic of Indonesia’s National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in distributing 3,467 packages of sacrificial meat with a total value of IDR 1.137 billion to people spread across Mitratel’s operational areas (4 areas and 11 regions) throughout Indonesia.
The collaboration ceremony was held at the Telkom Landmark Tower Building, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, Tuesday (20/6/2023), attended by Commissioners, Directors and Mitratel employees as well as the Chairman of BAZNAS of the Republic of Indonesia and their staff. At that moment, 3,467 packages of sacrificial meat were symbolically handed over under the name of the Mitratel Sharing program for sacrificial animals in 2023, Signals of Kindness Spread #PotentialEverywhere.
“This moment is full of meaning in expressing our gratitude to God Almighty for all the gifts and blessings that have been given. Through the Mitratel Sharing Qurban meat program this year, it is hoped that religious values can be enlivened through Sacrificial Worship, a form of Mitratel’s social responsibility and Mitratel’s concern in building positive relationships with the community and stakeholders,” said Theodorus Ardi Hartoko or who is familiarly called Teddy Hartoko as the Main Director of Mitratel.
Meanwhile, Chairman of BAZNAS RI Prof Dr KH Noor Achmad, said the cooperation established between BAZNAS and Mitratel was an impetus for the successful implementation of effective and efficient sacrifices.
Prof Noor said, with this assistance, it would be very useful for people in need. It is hoped that this program from Mitratel can inspire other parties to roll out similar programs, so that the reach of assistance can be wider.
“This program is very good, hopefully it can be an example for other parties to take similar steps. BAZNAS invites the public to take advantage of the momentum of Eid al-Adha to do good, to share with others by making sacrifices,” he said.
Telecommunication Sector is Still Prospective, Mitratel (MTEL) Expand 5G Services
This 5G network is believed to accelerate digital transformation and the growth of Indonesia’s digital sector.
IDXChannel – Currently the use of 5G technology in Indonesia is predicted to be more attractive, referring to GSM Association (GSMA) research entitled The Mobile Economy Asia Pacific 2022.
This research states that the business consolidation of telecommunications operator companies will accelerate the adoption of 5G. Telecommunication tower is one of the main elements of the 5G ecosystem that can spur the adoption of 5G technology in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, according to Kearney’s study, 5G penetration in 2025 is projected to reach 27.2 percent, or higher when compared to the 5G penetration potential in 2024 of 13.4 percent. Indonesia is entering a new round of information technology because 5G cellular networks have started operating commercially throughout Indonesia since May 24, 2021.
This 5G network is believed to accelerate digital transformation and the growth of Indonesia’s digital sector. The implementation of 5G will encourage the increase in smart cell needs.
Then, the profit of telecommunication operator companies using 5G has an impact on revenue growth.
Research Analyst of PT BRI Danareksa Sekuritas, Niko Margaronis said PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk, (Mitratel) prepares digital infrastructure to make it easier for telecommunication operators to expand 5G services.
Mitratel transformed into a digital infrastructure company (Digital InfraCo) and the largest telecommunications tower (tower) in Southeast Asia because the number of towers in the first quarter of 23 was 36,439 units.
“In addition to the tower outside Java Island, the massive availability and distribution of Mitratel towers on Java Island is a competitive advantage that attracts telecommunication operators to rent towers with a collocation partnership scheme that benefits telecommunication operator companies for 5G network expansion, especially in big cities,” said Niko to the media, written Monday (6/19/2023).
In the first quarter of/2023 Mitratel controlled a market share of 45 percent in the national tower industry. Niko said the expansion of telecommunications operator companies will drive revenue growth, net profit and Mitratel EBITDA above 10 percent by 2023.
“The potential for revenue growth is supported by tower rental demand from Indosat operator Ooredoo Hutchison, XL Axiata and Smartfren in the second quarter to fourth quarter of this year. Financial growth will be a positive catalyst for the targeted stock price,” explained Niko.
In addition, Mitratel took the initiative to provide the latest business segment, namely fiberization and power to the tower services that provide the management of electrical energy sources to towers connected to the PLN electricity network (on grid).
Mitratel also has another business portfolio related to the tower which recorded revenue worth Rp128 billion as of March 2023. This portfolio provides telecommunication infrastructure management services, non-telecommunication, and project solutions.
Mitratel’s business growth is also driven by the expansion of fiber portfolios, including fiber optic acquisitions. The digital infrastructure ecosystem in Mitratel’s portfolio supports the business expansion of customers, namely MNO companies. Mitratel expanded its portfolio in the fiber optic sector by building 8,876 km organically in January-March this year.
Robertus Hardy, Senior Research Analyst of PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia said, this year’s economic condition is believed to still be a positive catalyst for the telecommunications sector compared to other sectors.
For the telecommunications sector, he continued, communication and public data spending will grow this year, especially with the addition of 5G service demands in big cities.
Robertus observed Mitratel as a leader in his sector because it has the most towers in Southeast Asia. “Therefore, Mitratel has the potential to spend capital expenditure (capex) to increase the tower,” said Robertus.
This is believed to have an impact on MTEL’s financial growth in 2023. Mitratel’s income this year, continued Robert, is estimated to be worth Rp8,59 trillion, net profit of Rp2,08 trillion and EBITDA of Rp6,82 trillion and dividend yield is pegged to 2.3 percent.
