Mitratel (MTEL) Raises Fiber Optic Expansion Target to More than 6,000 Km
Dayamitra Telekomunikasi (MTEL) has a plan to revise the optical fiber development target to be higher.
Bisnis.com , JAKARTA – The tower issuer is PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk. (MTEL) or Mitratel is preparing to increase the company’s fiber optic network development target. Mitratel Investment Director Hendra Purnama said this year his party had mentioned the target for the construction of 6,000 kilometers (km) of fiber optic networks . “For this year’s target, we mentioned 6,000 km [of fiber optic construction]. However, the demand for this optical fiber is very high,” Hendra said in a webinar with Henan Putihrai Sekuritas, Tuesday (5/7/2022).
Hendra continued, currently Mitratel is reviewing the construction of the company’s fiber optic network. According to him, the issuer with the stock code MTEL has plans to revise the fiber optic development target to be higher. “So we will be more aggressive,” he said.
He said that currently MTEL is more efficient and effective than other tower operators in terms of fiber optic development. MTEL does not need to build a backbone , because it can use the backbone of its parent, namely PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM). Previously, Mitratel President Director Theodorus Ardi Hartoko said that currently his party has started the construction of a fiber optic network of approximately 2,000 km. On average, the construction of this fiber optic network has been completed by 30 percent.
“We are targeting that in the not too distant future the construction will be completed and can be used by all mobile network operators (MNO),” said Theodorus in Mitratel’s public expose, Friday (22/4/2022).
The construction of this fiber optic network will fully use the proceeds from MTEL’s IPO, according to the calculation of the feasibility on the market . Meanwhile, Mitratel Business Director Noorhayati Candrasuci said that the construction of this fiber optic network would require an investment of up to IDR 1 trillion. “The total investment is around IDR 500 billion to IDR 1 trillion for funding for all fiber optic programs in 2022,” he said.

Direktur Investasi Mitratel Hendra Purnama mengatakan, tahun ini pihaknya sempat menyebutkan menargetkan pembangunan 6.000 kilometer (km) jaringan fiber optik. “Untuk target tahun ini, kami sempat menyebut [pembangunan fiber optik] 6.000 km. Tapi, permintaan fiber optik ini sangat tinggi,” kata Hendra dalam webinar dengan Henan Putihrai Sekuritas, Selasa (5/7/2022).
Hendra melanjutkan, saat ini Mitratel tengah melakukan peninjauan kembali mengenai pembangunan jaringan fiber optik perseroan. Menurutnya, emiten berkode saham MTEL ini memiliki rencana untuk merevisi target pembangunan fiber optik menjadi lebih tinggi. “Jadi kami akan lebih agresif lagi,” ucapnya.
Dia menyebut, saat ini MTEL lebih efisien dan efektif dibandingkan operator menara lain dari sisi pembangunan fiber optik. MTEL tidak perlu membangun backbone, karena bisa menggunakan backbone milik induknya, yakni PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM). Sebelumnya, Direktur Utama Mitratel Theodorus Ardi Hartoko mengatakan, saat ini pihaknya telah mulai menjalankan pembangunan jaringan fiber optik kurang lebih sepanjang 2.000 km. Secara rata-rata, pembangunan jaringan fiber optik ini telah selesai 30 persennya
“Kami targetkan dalam waktu yang tidak terlalu lama pembangunan tersebut sudah selesai dan bisa segera digunakan oleh seluruh mobile network operator (MNO),” ujar Theodorus dalam paparan publik Mitratel, Jumat (22/4/2022).
Pembangunan jaringan fiber optik ini akan sepenuhnya menggunakan dana proceed IPO MTEL, sesuai perhitungan kelayakan yang ada di market. Sementara itu, Direktur Bisnis Mitratel Noorhayati Candrasuci menuturkan, pembangunan jaringan fiber optik ini akan memerlukan investasi hingga Rp1 triliun. “Total investasi sekitar di level Rp500 miliar hingga Rp1 triliun untuk pendanaan dari seluruh program fiber optik di 2022,” ucapnya.
