Mitratel’s Two Portfolio Accelerate Digital Infrastructure Growth
Jakarta, (Thursday, 11 May 2023)- Digital transformation is a necessity that Mitratel must carry out as a digital society is being formed in line with mobile broadband technology which is increasingly massive in growth and strengthening Indonesia’s digital economy. This can be created thanks to the support of digital infrastructure provided by digital infrastructure companies (Digital InfraCo). PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) or Mitratel, for example, is spurring digital infrastructure development, such as acquiring telecommunications towers and fiber optic cables in 2022 and developing value-added services that support national digital infrastructure.
Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, Main Director of Mitratel, said the availability of telecommunication towers and digital infrastructure supporting these towers strengthens the connectivity provided by cellular operators which has a positive impact on digitalization in all sectors. “Mitratel is optimistic that the development of digital infrastructure that is being intensified by Mitratel will further accelerate digital transformation and make it easier for the public to access digital platforms,” said Teddy, Theodorus’ nickname, in Jakarta, Thursday (11/5/2023).
Mitratel has a complete portfolio as a digital infrastructure service provider company, namely tower leasing and other businesses in the tower ecosystem (Tower Related Business). “The Tower Leasing portfolio continues to be a driver of the company’s growth, driven by tenant and collocation income,” said Teddy, Theodorus’ nickname in Jakarta, Thursday (11/5/2023). Tower Leasing as of March 2023 recorded revenue of IDR 1.73 trillion or grew by 18.8% compared to the first quarter of 2022.
The other business portfolio related to towers includes fiberization services to the tower (Fiber to The Tower), Managed Service and Project solutions. In addition, Mitratel is also initiating the Power to The Tower, Edge Infra Solution and Active Equipment Services businesses. During the first quarter of 2023, the Tower Related Business portfolio recorded a revenue portion of 6% in that period. Apart from that, the fiber optic network segment contributed to a revenue portion of 2%. Currently, Mitratel has succeeded in accelerating its fiber network ownership of up to 26 thousand km as a result of organic and inorganic expansion.
Power To The Tower and Edge Infra Solution are new business initiatives that are being prepared as new growth engines for the company. The commercialization of our services is accelerated in line with the cellular network service development program from MNO. “Our entire portfolio strengthens Mitratel’s capacity to provide reliable and proven digital infrastructure in providing the best service (service excellence) to our customers, namely cellular operators,” said Teddy.
The Power to The Tower business model is the provision of energy sources both on grid sites (connected to the main energy source) and off grid (networks not connected to PLN electricity). The impact of the availability of digital infrastructure, such as the availability of telecommunication towers and fiberization, is the acceleration of digitalization which makes it easier for the public to adopt the latest digital solutions so that it can encourage increased activity and national economic productivity. “In this case Mitratrel will try to always make the maximum contribution to the development of digital transformation in Indonesia,” concluded Teddy. Transformation into a Digital Infrastructure Company, This is what Mitratel has done
PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) or Mitratel plans to transform into a digital infrastructure company
KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA . The tower issuer, PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk ( MTEL ) or Mitratel plans to transform into a digital infrastructure company . One of them is by developing a fiber optic network.
Mitratel Investment Director Hendra Purnama explained that Mitratel plans to build an ecosystem as a digital infrastructure company , not just a tower company.
This year, a subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk introduced a new product, namely fiber optics. Hendra said this segment was chosen because it was an important element in the development of the 5G network.
“For this year’s target, we mentioned the guidelines reaching 6,000 km, but the demand for fiber optic is very high,” explained Hendra in a virtual discussion held by Henan Putihrai Sekuritas, Tuesday (5/7).
He said that in the first quarter of this year, Mitratel has pocketed a fiber optic contract of 2,117 kilometers (km). Therefore, it is currently conducting a review.
“We are currently reviewing it and we will announce it again. We are planning to revise our target to be even higher. We will be more aggressive,” he said.
Indeed, the EBITDA margin, continued Hendra, will not be as high as the tower. However, the prospect of fiber optic development is quite good in the market to support 5G. In a previous report, Hendra explained that all the fiber optics currently being built are orders from mobile network operator (MNO) aka cellular operator.
To build the optical fiber, Mitratel has prepared a capital expenditure allocation ( capex) of around Rp 500 billion. In total, the capex allocation for 2022 is IDR 9.9 trillion.
Currently, the optical fiber is being built in North Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Bali and the Riau Islands.
Saat ini, fiber optik tersebut tengah dibangun di Sumatra Utara, DKI Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah, Jawa Timur, Kalimantan Barat, Sulawesi Utara, Sulawesi Barat, Sulawesi Selatan, Bali, dan Kepulauan Riau.

Transformasi Menjadi Perusahaan Digital Infrastructure, Ini yang Dilakukan Mitratel
KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA.
