Jakarta – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (Mitratel) has secured two prestigious accolades at the Asian Telecom Awards 2026, namely Infrastructure Initiative of the Year – Indonesia and Wholesale Company Initiative of the Year – Indonesia.
These awards recognize Mitratel’s success in developing and implementing the GFRP Tower Initiative, an innovative telecommunications tower solution made from Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) that has been fully specified, certified, and commercialized. The initiative reflects the Company’s commitment to delivering infrastructure solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and value-accretive for wholesale customers.
GFRP towers offer significant structural advantages over conventional steel towers, including lighter weight, higher strength, and optimal cost efficiency. These characteristics enable faster deployment, greater installation flexibility across diverse geographic conditions, and improved operational effectiveness.
From a sustainability perspective, the use of composite materials in GFRP towers contributes to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions and logistics fuel consumption. This initiative is aligned with the Company’s sustainability roadmap and its Net Zero Emission 2060 target.
The reliability of GFRP technology has been demonstrated through initial deployments across several operational regions, paving the way for broader national-scale adoption. To support medium- to long-term growth, Mitratel has established the GFRP Roadmap 2025–2030, targeting expansion to up to 198 sites, including the development of supporting infrastructure solutions for 4G and 5G networks.
This achievement further strengthens Mitratel’s position as a digital telecommunications infrastructure provider focused on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, while providing a solid foundation for the Company’s future business growth.
