Jakarta, November 15, 2019 – Director of Human Capital Management of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), Edi Witjara, together with Miranda Goeltom, the General Chair of the All-Indonesian Bridge Association (PB GABSI), and Rakhmad Tunggal Afifuddin, Chair of the TelkomGroup Bridge Club, officially inaugurated the “Telkom Indonesia Open” (TIO) bridge tournament at the Telkom Landmark Tower Auditorium, Jakarta, Friday (11/15). The tournament, which took place on November 14 – 17, 2019, featured competition for the Telkom President Director Trophy, the HCM Director Cup, and a total prize pool of IDR 215 million. In line with the PB GABSI program, the Telkom Indonesia Open 2019 carries the theme “Goes to Millennials” which aims to foster interest and achievement in bridge sports among millennials, especially within the TelkomGroup. Edi Witjara, Telkom’s Director of Human Capital Management, expressed Telkom’s enthusiasm for hosting the Telkom Indonesia Open 2019. He emphasized the value of bridge sports in bolstering strategic planning skills, which is very beneficial in running a large-scale company like Telkom. Bridge exemplifies a concept that resonates with what all TelkomGroup employees do, such as collecting data, processing it, making decisions, and acting. “This initiative demonstrates Telkom’s corporate social responsibility towards the development of national sports in order to cultivate superior human resources for an Indonesian digital society,” said Edi Witjara, who also serves as the founder of the Telkom Group Bridge Club (TGBC). He really appreciates the initiative of the TGBC community in organizing this bridge tournament. General Chair of GABSI General Chair, Miranda Goeltom in her speech expressed her gratitude to TelkomGroup for taking part in coaching bridge sports and for its remarkable capability to regularly organize bridge tournaments. Additionally, she emphasized TelkomGroup success in organizing an international-scale bridge tournament in 2018. The Telkom Indonesia Open (TIO) stands as the biggest bridge tournament in Indonesia which competes for the Telkom President Director’s Rotating Cup. It unfailingly brings in skilled athletes from all over Indonesia. Previously known as the Dirut Telkom Cup, the tournament became TIO until now. TIO was attended by 90 participating teams, with three categories: internal tournaments, main events, and Swiss events. With the coaching carried out, TelkomGroup aims to promote a strong talent pool and contribute to the advancement of Indonesian bridge at the international level.
