The signing of the Sales & Purchase Agreement (SPA) for the fiber optic acquisition was carried out on December 19, 2022.
Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, The President Director of Mitratel, revealed in a disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) that Mitratel had officially signed a binding agreement for the sale and purchase of fiber optic assets. This agreement involves Mitratel as the buyer and PT Sumber Cemerlang Kencana Permai (SCKP) & PT Trans Indonesia Superkoridor (TIS) as the sellers. The acquired optical fiber spans 6,012 km across 86 cities and regencies in Indonesia, connecting 2,436 towers.
It is believed that the procurement of optical fiber, integral to the fiberization process, will impact Mitratel’s performance and its transformation towards becoming a Digital Infraco. Furthermore, the fiber optic acquisition potentially opens up new business opportunities; thus, enhancing value to the company.
Mitratel targets to become a Leading Digital Infrastructure Company (Digital Infraco) in 2023 by strengthening its 5G network service infrastructure, one of which is through the fiberization process.
“The acquisition of fiber optics represents a strategic plan to expedite the fiberization process, corresponding to Mitratel’s primary objective of proceeding with the 5G adoption in the next few years. This action emphasizes the company’s efforts to promote Indonesia’s digital sovereignty,” uttered Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, known as Teddy.
Through this action, it is also anticipated that Mitratel can maintain its momentum in further bolstering asset management and business lines; thus, fostering the growth of more ideal, productive, effective and efficient organizational performance. Subsequently, Mitratel will enhance the company’s value in every area of product and service innovation, both organically and inorganically.
This acquisition is evidence of Mitratel’s commitment to preserve its position as the foremost and most comprehensive telecommunications infrastructure provider, enabling the expansion of their service range for telecommunications operators. Currently, Mitratel has become the largest, most comprehensive and widely reaching network provider in Indonesia. The incorporation of fiber optic ownership enables telecommunications operators to expand their services wherever they are because Mitratel also has satellite connectivity services.
“With the seamless connectivity that we offer, telecommunications operators simply need to specify their desired location and all infrastructure needs can be fulfilled by Mitratel,” said Teddy, always maintaining a good shape due to his love for sports.
