Mitratel Towards a Digital Infrastructure Company, Establishes Research Collaboration with Telkom University
Jakarta, December 2, 2022 – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk., commonly known as Mitratel, continues to be committed to supporting research and technology development to increase the digitalization of telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia. To support the steps referred to, Mitratel is collaborating with Telkom University which is believed to accelerate the development of the telecommunications industry towards the vision of Indonesia 2045.
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mitratel and Telkom University was carried out on December 2, 2022, on the sidelines of the Senate Open Session for the Graduation of Masters, Bachelors, Applied Bachelors and Associate Expert Programs at Telkom University Period 1 of the 2022 Academic Year/2023. Present at the event were the President Director of PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk Theodorus Ardi Hartoko and the Chancellor of Telkom University Prof. Dr. Adiwijaya. S.Sc., M.Sc.
Theodorus Ardi Hartoko or familiarly known as Teddy said that the signing of the Mitratel collaboration with Telkom University was a serious effort by Mitratel to develop the digitalization of telecommunications infrastructure and support the education system and research and technology development. Mitratel as the largest tower provider in Southeast Asia continues to be committed to contributing to the acceleration of Indonesia’s digitalization. Currently, Mitratel has more than 35,000 telecommunications towers spread throughout Indonesia and has been utilized by all telecommunications operators.
The form of collaboration between Mitratel and Telkom University includes research in the field of Design & Prototyping which includes New Smart Pole, Design Pole in IKN, Magnetic Infinity Power Generator, Water Fuel Power Generator, and Infinity life battery bank. Apart from that, cooperation in the field of implementation such as IoT applications (environmental control), Edge Computing-based applications (smart campus services), and non-steel tower material applications.
“We hope that this collaboration will have a positive impact not only on our business lines, but also on the future education system for the digitalization of the telecommunications industry in Indonesia,” said Teddy in a written statement in Jakarta.
This support from Mitratel was welcomed positively by the Chancellor of Telkom University, Prof. Adiwijaya. He said that the form of support provided by Mitratel will have a positive impact on the University with systems and facilities, as well as resources that are ready to be optimized for digital business and the telecommunications industry.
“We positively welcome this collaboration and are confident that collaboration with this University will produce new, superior seeds from Telkom University that can support the acceleration of digital transformation in the telecommunications industry in Indonesia,” he said.
This memorandum of understanding is to create mutually beneficial cooperation for both Mitratel and Telkom University. In order to run an infrastructure business, Mitratel as a digital telecommunications infrastructure provider company requires research to improve products and services and optimize resources so that it can continue to grow and develop.
Teddy added, in the future Mitratel is committed to continuing to expand cooperation with universities in Indonesia to accelerate the improvement of domestic human resources. This will have a positive impact on Indonesia’s efforts to develop human resources so that it is on par with developed countries in the world.”

Officially Entering the Jakarta Islamic Index, MTEL Strengthens its Corporate Governance Commitment and Becomes a Reference for Sharia Mutual Funds
Jakarta, December 1, 2022 – The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) conducted an evaluation of Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) constituents on November 29, 2022. Shares of PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk. (MTEL), commonly known as “Mitratel”, were officially included in the ranks of index constituents, commonly referred to as JII 30. This index comprises the top 30 issuers that adhere to Sharia principles, demonstrating strong fundamental business performance and exemplary governance and liquidity.
Apart from JlI, according to BEI announcement No. Peng-00302/BEI.POP/11-2022, MTEL shares were also listed as a new member of the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) and the Jakarta Islamic Index 70 (JIl 70). BEl stated that the effective tenure for the constituents’ share of JII, ISSI and JII 70 is from December 2022 to May 2023.
Mitratel’s President Director Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, commonly called Teddy, genuinely appreciated the inclusion of MTEL shares as a member of the Sharia Stock Index. According to him, this inclusion signifies the company’s commitment to prioritizing corporate governance in accordance with sharia principles.

Previously on September 21, IDX also incorporated MTEL shares as a new member of the IDX ESG Leaders index. Apart from that, MTEL shares were previously enlisted in the FTSE Global Index for the Mid-Cap, FTSE All-World, FTSE All-Cap and FTSE Total Cap series. As of June 20, 2022, MTEL stands as the sole stock on the Indonesian stock exchange that falls into these 4 categories.
Teddy underscored the significance of JII, which comprises 30 shares assessed according to Sharia principles, as a benchmark for all Sharia Mutual Funds in Indonesia. Based on data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), as of October 2022, the value of managed funds from Sharia Mutual Funds in the country reached IDR 40.33 trillion with 271 Sharia Mutual Fund products.
The market share of Sharia Mutual Funds reached 7.78% compared to conventional mutual funds. Additionally, as Sharia investment products show positive prospects in Indonesia, given its status as the largest Muslim population in the world, the prospects for Sharia Mutual Funds seems promising. For this reason, shares that are the underlying Sharia Mutual Fund products, such as MTEL, are also anticipated to have bright prospects.
At the close of trading, Wednesday (11/30/2022), MTEL shares were recorded to have risen 2.07%, reaching IDR 740 per share. Over the past week, MTEL shares were also recorded to have jumped 4.23%. It has only been a year since this subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk. (TLKM), which operates within the field of telecommunications infrastructure provision, listed its shares on the IDX on November 22, 2021. However, MTEL has swiftly evolved into the largest tower company (towerco) in Southeast Asia, possessing a remarkable portfolio of 35,051 telecommunications towers.
Until the third quarter of 2022, Mitratel managed to record revenue that rose 11.5%, reaching IDR 5.6 trillion compared to the same period last year, which stood at IDR 5.02 trillion. The company’s business growth has consistently outpaced industry standards. As a result, Mitratel’s profitability significantly rose with Net Profit growing 18.1% compared to last year.

Jakarta, 1 Desember 2022 – Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) melakukan evaluasi atas penghuni Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) pada 29 November 2022. Saham PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) atau “Mitratel” resmi masuk sebagai jajaran penghuni indeks yang juga biasa disebut sebagai JII30. Indeks itu berisikan top 30 emiten yang memenuhi kriteria sebagai perusahaan yang menerapkan prinsip syariah, serta memiliki kinerja fundamental bisnis baik, tata kelola dan likuiditas terbaik.
Selain di JII, dalam pengumuman BEI No. Peng-00302/BEI.POP/11-2022, saham MTEL juga tercatat sebagai penghuni baru Indeks Saham Syariah Indonesia (ISSI) dan Jakarta Islamic Index 70 (JII 70). BEI menyatakan periode efektif konstituen saham penghuni JII, ISSI dan JII 70 berlaku mulai Desember 2022 hingga Mei 2023.

Selain itu, saham MTEL sebelumnya juga masuk dalam FTSE Global Indeks untuk series Mid-Cap, FTSE All-World, FTSE All-Cap, dan FTSE Total Cap. MTEL jadi satu-satunya saham dari bursa Indonesia yang masuk ke dalam 4 kategori ini pada 20 Juni 2022.
Teddy mengungkapkan, JII yang beranggotan 30 saham yang dinilai sesuai prinsip syariah, merupakan acuan bagi seluruh reksadana syariah di Indonesia. Berdasarkan data Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), per Oktober 2022 nilai dana kelolaan reksadana syariah di Tanah Air mencapai Rp40,33 triliun dengan 271 produk reksadana syariah.
Pangsa pasar reksadana syariah mencapai 7,78% dibandingkan reksadana konvensional. Seiring positifnya prospek produk investasi syariah mempertimbangkan Indonesia merupakan negara dengan jumlah populasi penduduk Muslim terbesar di dunia, maka prospek reksadana syariah akan semakin positif ke depannya. Dengan begitu, saham-saham yang jadi underlying produk reksadana syariah, seperti MTEL juga memiliki prospek cerah.
Pada penutupan perdagangan, Rabu (30/11/2022), saham MTEL tercatat menguat 2,07% di level Rp740 per saham. Sepekan terakhir, saham MTEL juga tercatat melonjak 4,23%. Tercatat baru setahun Anak usaha PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) yang bergerak di bidang penyediaan infrastruktur telekomunikasi ini mencatatkan sahamnya di BEI pada 22 November 2021. Namun MTEL telah berkembang menjadi perusahaan tower (towerco) terbesar di Asia Tenggara yang tercatat memiliki 35.051 tower telekomunikasi.
Hingga kuartal III 2022, Mitratel berhasil membukukan pendapatan yang melesat 11,5% menjadi Rp5,6 triliun dibandingkan periode yang sama tahun lalu sebesar Rp5,02 triliun. Satellite Connectivity: Mitratel Offers the Most Comprehensive Services, Facilitating Operator Expansion

(MTEL) signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat) for Satellite Connectivity Services (Satellite Backhaul). The collaboration of the two subsidiaries of PT Telkom Indonesia, Tbk. (TLKM) strives to leverage the infrastructure and resources owned by each party.
The agreement was carried out by the President Director of Mitratel, Theodorus A. Hartoko, and the President Director of Telkomsat, Lukman Hakim Abd. Rauf, on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
Mitratel, as a telecommunications infrastructure provider, offers comprehensive service solutions (including tower, connectivity, and power-to-tower) for telecommunications operators to expand their networks and services. In addition, this initiative aids the successful distribution of telecommunications networks throughout Indonesia, including rural areas.
In facilitating this connectivity, Mitratel synergizes with Telkomsat, a subsidiary of the TelkomGroup, renowned for its competence and capability in operating, maintaining, and controlling satellite communications systems in Indonesia. Telkomsat possesses earth stations strategically located across all Level I Regional Capitals in Indonesia.
Mitratel’s President Director, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko explained that the agreement is expected to accelerate digital transformation and promote equality programs throughout Indonesia. This satellite connectivity complements Mitratel’s existing portfolio of fiber optic connectivity services. The partnership between the two companies includes the provision of towers and satellite communication systems as a connecting network between BTS and telecommunications operator control centers. Apart from that, a joint marketing strategy was established, including the operation and maintenance of satellite equipment.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Telkomsat, Lukman Hakim Abd. Rauf expressed his positive response towards the collaboration between the two companies.

According to Lukman, the collaboration between the two companies will also bolster the Telkom Group’s business, offering a valuable resource for all telecommunications operators to enhance their services and internet access for Indonesian. This involves bundling of telecommunications tower infrastructure with a satellite communications system, potentially covering around 11,000 towers.

Sinergi dua anak perusahaan PT Telkom Indonesia, Tbk (TLKM) tersebut direalisasikan dalam bentuk kerja sama pemanfaatan infrastruktur dan sumber daya yang dimiliki masing-masing pihak secara bersama-sama.
Penandatanganan dilakukan oleh Direktur Utama Mitratel Theodorus A Hartoko dengan Direktur Utama Telkomsat Lukman Hakim Abd. Rauf pada Kamis, 24 November 2022.

Kemitraan kedua perusahaan mencakup penyediaan menara dan sistem komunikasi satelit sebagai jaringan penghubung antara BTS dengan pusat kontrol operator telekomunikasi. Selain itu juga disepakati skema pemasaran bersama, hingga pengoperasian dan pemeliharaan perangkat satelit.
Sementara itu Direktur Utama Telkomsat, Lukman Hakim Abd. Rauf menyambut baik kerja sama kedua perusahaan.

Menurut Lukman, kerja sama kedua perusahaan juga akan memperkuat bisnis Telkom Group yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh seluruh operator telekomunikasi dalam mengembangkan layanan dan akses internet untuk masyarakat Indonesia. Ini akan menjadi bundling infrastruktur menara telekomunikasi dengan sistem komunikasi satelit yang memiliki potensi sekitar 11.000 tower.
“Bagi Mitratel dengan adanya kerjasama dengan Telkomsat akan memperkuat posisi Mitratel untuk bertransformasi menjadi penyedia digital infrastruktur. Satu Tahun Melantai Di Bursa, Mitratel Berhasil Menjadi Yang Terbesar Di Asia Tenggara

Jakarta, 23 November 2022 – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) atau “Mitratel” perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang penyediaan infrastruktur digital dan telekomuikasi telah genap 1 (satu) tahun melantai di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Mitratel terus menjaga pertumbuhan dan berkembang menjadi perusahaan tower (towerco) terbesar di regional yang adaptif terhadap perubahan.
Direktur Utama Mitratel Theodorus Ardi Hartoko atau yang biasa disapa Teddy mengatakan ada empat capaian yang berhasil diraih perseroan dalam masa setahun pasca mencatatkan sahamnya di Bursa Efek Indonesia (IPO) pada 22 November 2021. Di antaranya pertama, Mitratel kini menjadi perusahaan tower telekomunikasi independent terbesar di Asia Tenggara dengan 28% saham kepemilikan publik yang memiliki layanan terlengkap.

Di Indonesia, Towerco telah bergerak untuk menangkap potensi pertumbuhan penyediaan infrastruktur digital, guna mendorong pertumbuhan bisnis di masa depan. Terutama terkait penyediaan infrastruktur fiber optic untuk mendukung layanan seluler (4G/5G) dan ekosistem digital.

Kedua, perseroan kini menjadi perusahaan provider menara telekomunikasi terbesar di Asia Tenggara dari sisi kepemilikan menara, melalui berbagai pembangunan tower dan aksi korporasi. “Tenancy ratio MTEL 1,44x dan 58% tower di luar Jawa menjadi ruang pertumbuhan dengan perluasan layanan operator seluler ke seluruh Indonesia,” Teddy mengungkapkan.
Hingga kuartal III 2022, Mitratel tercatat total memiliki 35.051 tower telekomunikasi, setelah perseroan sukses mengakuisisi 6.000 tower milik PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) beberapa waktu lalu.
Ketiga, menurut Teddy, Mitratel memiliki leverage rendah dan tanpa eksposur terhadap risiko nilai tukar mata uang asing. Perseroan cukup tangguh terhadap eksposur makro ekonomi dengan catatan net-debt to EBITDA 1,7x, tingkat kandungan dalam negeri (TKDN) 100% dan seluruh utang dalam mata uang rupiah.
“Keempat, MTEL juga jadi perusahaan terdepan di industri dengan tingkat investasi yang sangat baik,” ujar Teddy.
Teddy menjelaskan MTEL telah meraih peringkat investment grade yang sangat baik dari PEFINDO yaitu peringkat IdAAA dengan outlook stabil. Saham MTEL juga masuk dalam daftar FTSE Global Equty IDX80, Kompas 100, IDX ESG Leaders dan ISSI Index.
Pada periode Januari – September 2022, MTEL berhasil membukukan pendapatan melesat 11,5% secara tahunan menjadi Rp5,6 triliun dibandingkan periode yang sama tahun lalu Rp5,02 triliun. Lonjakan pendapatan itu mendongkrak laba bersih Perusahaan 18,1% menjadi Rp1,22 triliun dibandingkan sebelumnya Rp1,03 triliun.
Teddy menyatakan pertumbuhan perusahaan yang konsisten berhasil mencatatkan EBITDA (earning before interest, taxes, depreciation) meningkat menjadi 15,7%. “EBITDA diharapkan semakin meningkat seiring peningkatan kolokasi, terutama karena luasnya coverage tower di luar Jawa,” ungkap Teddy.
Menurut Teddy, pertumbuhan bisnis perusahaan di periode kuartal I – III 2022 tercatat terus konsisten lebih besar dari pertumbuhan industri. Hal inilah yang menjadikan profitabilitas Mitratel naik lebih signifikan dibandingkan tahun lalu.
Kinerja Terus bertumbuh
Sementara itu Senior Investment Information PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia Nafan Aji memproyeksikan kinerja Mitratel akan terus bertumbuh. Nafan mengatakan pertumbuhan anak usaha Telkom tersebut mulai menampakkan hasil setelah genap setahun melantai di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) pada Rabu (23/11/2022).
“MTEL masih mengalami bearish consolidation dalam jangka pendek. MTEL memiliki support pada Rp 680 per lembar saham dan resistance pada Rp 740. Ini analisa teknikal. Bullish consolidation mulai berlaku jika MTEL konsisten bertahan di atas Rp 705. Saat ini di Rp 710,” ujar Nafan.
Meski begitu, Nafan meyakini tren Mitratel akan terus meningkat hingga akhir tahun. Hal ini tak lepas dari sejumlah ekspansi bisnis Mitratel dalam sektor menara. Ia menyebut peningkatan kinerja Mitratel juga ditopang dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia yang impresif dengan fundamental makro ekonomi domestik yang relatif solid.
“Hal ini bisa menjadi katalis terhadap peningkatan kinerja fundamental top line maupun bottom line dari Mitratel,” lanjutnya.
Nafan mengatakan pertumbuhan ekonomi yang positif mendorong peningkatan kebutuhan layanan konektivitas internet. Tak hanya itu, lanjut Nafan, aksi Mitratel dalam mendukung pengembangan fiber optik juga akan kian meningkatkan kinerja perusahaan di masa mendatang.
“Permintaan konektivitas ke depan pasti mengalami peningkatan dengan pengembangan teknologi yang makin cepat, walaupun kinerja fundamental masih bertolak belakang dengan kinerja harga saham tapi secara teknikal lebih baik kalau konsisten di atas Rp 750,” kata Nafan. (*)
Kuartal III 2022 Laba Bersih Mitratel Melesat 18,1% menjadi Rp. 1.22 Triliun

Jakarta 31 Oktober 2022 – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) atau Mitratel yang bergerak di bidang penyediaan infrastruktur digital dan telekomunikasi independen, berhasil mencatatkan kinerja cemerlang dan di atas rata-rata industri pada periode Januari – September 2022.
Pendapatan Perseroan selama periode 9 bulan pertama tahun 2022 ini naik 11,5% secara tahunan menjadi Rp5,6triliun dibandingkan periode yang sama tahun lalu Rp5,02 triliun. Lonjakan pendapatan itu mendongkrak laba bersih perusahaan melesat 18,1% menjadi Rp1,22 triliun dibandingkan sebelumnya Rp1,03 triliun. Begitu juga dengan EBITDA yang mengalami kenaikan sebesar 15.7% menjadi Rp.4.4 triliun.
Direktur Utama PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, menyatakan bahwa Mitratel terbukti memiliki track record yang baik dalam pengembangan bisnis tower sejak tahun 2010 baik secara organik maupun inorganik. Teddy menjelaskan, margin EBITDA dan margin laba bersih pada kuartal III perseroan tahun ini meningkat masing-masing menjadi 78,5% dan 21,9%. Kontributor utama dari peningkatan laba ini adalah margin EBITDA dari portofolio penyewaan menara yang meningkat 85,1% dan margin laba bersihnya meningkat 23,4%. Adapun pendapatan dari sewa menara di periode Januari-September 2022 melesat 12,9% menjadi Rp5,07 triliun.
“Mitratel memastikan kinerja bisnis penyewaan menara perseroan kompetitif dibandingkan industri. Selain itu, Mitratel terus meningkatkan profitabilitas di bisnis lainnya,” Lanjut Teddy.
Seiring positifnya kinerja pendapatan dan laba perusahaan, aset perusahaan tercatat meningkat 37% menjadi Rp54,9 triliun dan ekuitas juga meningkat 124% menjadi Rp33,2 triliun. Adapun liabilitas MTEL pada September2022 berhasil turun 14,1% menjadi Rp21,7 triliun.
Perusahaan Independen Menara Terbesar di Asia Tenggara
Positifnya kinerja keuangan Mitratel hinggal kuartal III 2022 didukung oleh fundamental bisnis perusahaan, terutama dari sisi kinerja operasional. Teddy menjelaskan pada kuartal III ini perusahaan telah berhasil mengakuisisi 6.000 tower milik PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel). Aksi korporasi ini telah menjadikan Mitratel sebagai perusahaan menara telekomunikasi terbesar di Asia Tenggara dengan kepemilikan 35.051 tower 50.390 tenant.
Aksi inorganik yang agresif dibarengi dengan perkembangan organik membuat Mitratel mengalami pertumbuhan tower dan tenant terbesar di Indonesia.

Third Quarter 2022 Mitratel’s Net Profit Jumps 18.1% to IDR 1.22 Trillion

Jakarta 31 October 2022 – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk. (MTEL) or Mitratel which operates in the field of providing digital infrastructure and independent telecommunications, managed to record brilliant performance and above the industry average in the period January – September 2022.
The Company’s revenue during the first 9 months of 2022 rose 11.5% on an annual basis to IDR 5.6 trillion compared to the same period last year of IDR 5.02 trillion. This surge in revenue boosted the company’s net profit by 18.1% to IDR 1.22 trillion compared to the previous IDR 1.03 trillion. Likewise, EBITDA increased by 15.6% to IDR 4.4 trillion.
The President Director of PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, stated that Mitratel has proven to have a good track record in developing the tower business since 2010, both organically and inorganically. The company’s business growth in the first-third quarter of 2022 was recorded to consistently grow greater than industry growth by recording an average revenue for 5 years or Compound Annual Growth Rate 2017-202 (CAGR) of 14%. This is what makes Mitratel’s profitability increase more significantly compared to last year. “In the future, we believe that EBITDA will increase in line with the large opportunities for colocation growth at Mitratel Tower, especially outside Java,” said Theodorus, who is usually called Teddy, in an official statement in Jakarta, Monday (31/10/2022).
Teddy explained that the company’s EBITDA margin and net profit margin in the third quarter this year increased to 78.5% and 21.9% respectively. The crucial contribution to this increase in profit was the EBITDA margin from the Tower rental portfolio which increased by 85.1% and the net profit margin increased by 23.4%. Meanwhile, income from tower rentals in the January – September 2022 period shot up 12.9% to IDR 5.07 trillion.
“Mitratel ensures that the performance of the company’s tower rental business is competitive compared to the industry. “Apart from that, Mitratel continues to increase profitability in other businesses,” continued Teddy.
In line with the positive performance of the company’s revenue and profits, the company’s assets were recorded to have increased 37% to IDR 54.9 trillion and equity also increased 124% to IDR 33.2 trillion. Meanwhile, MTEL’s liabilities in September 2022 managed to fall by 14.1% to IDR 21.7 trillion.
The Largest Independent Tower Company in Southeast Asia
Mitratel’s positive financial performance until the third quarter of 2022 is supported by the company’s business fundamentals, especially in terms of operational performance. Teddy explained that in the third quarter the company had succeeded in acquiring 6,000 towers belonging to PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel). This corporate action has made Mitratel the largest telecommunications tower company in Southeast Asia with ownership of 35,051 towers and 50,390 tenants.
Aggressive inorganic action coupled with organic development has resulted in Mitratel experiencing the largest tower and tenant growth in Indonesia.
Teddy explained that the increase in the number of towers would be strong capital for the company to expand and support the accelerated implementation of the 5% network in Indonesia. This step also provides positive opportunities for telecommunications operators and tenants to expand the reach of their services, including other supporting businesses.
“For the fiber optic network business, we are targeting to complete the construction of a 9,000-kilometer network by the end of 2022. The fiber optic network is a high-capacity connectivity solution to support the implementation of the 5G network. “This is in line with our business development towards a Digital Infrastructure Company,” said Teddy.
Teddy added that Mitratel has prepared the most complete solution for all telecommunications operators in Indonesia with an attractive business scheme, namely providing bundling solutions in the form of towers, connectivity, edge computing and power to tower. Mitratel Focuses on Bolstering Tower Business Ecosystem
Nusa Dua, 20 October 2022 – PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk or “Mitratel” will focus on developing the telecommunications tower ecosystem starting from the tower construction business, fiber optics, providing power supply from solar panels as well as entering the area of edge computing to support 5G services. This business development step is considered to increase the company’s revenue and profits compared to just operating and building a tower business.
This was conveyed by Mitratel Investment Director Hendra Purnama in a meeting with investors at the SOE International Conference which is part of the Roa to G20 agenda which took place in Nusa Dua Bali on 17-18 October 2022. Hendra added that Mitratel, which is currently supported by the Telkom Group, has a team that is strong throughout Indonesia, so it has more capabilities than other similar companies.
“This is a good opportunity in 2023, with the tower business supported by fiber optics, edge computing, and power to tower, the margins obtained from the tower industry will be more attractive than just towers,” said Hendra. Furthermore, Hendra explained, in terms of financial performance, Mitratel’s revenue this year is expected to increase by around 12%, and EBITDA is expected to increase by around 15%. Mitratel is organically targeting expansion of 1,000 towers, and around 2,500 for colocation, in addition to deploying 9,000 km of fiber optic to support high-quality and high-capacity connectivity.
He added that currently Mitratel has several competitive advantages. First, in terms of coverage, Mitratel has 35,000 towers spread throughout Indonesia, of which around 58% are outside Java. This will add attraction for mobile operators if they want to expand outside Java.
“They (mobile operators) don’t need to build another tower, just occupy (collocate) our existing tower, because building a tower takes quite a long time. “That’s the advantage of our towers which are spread throughout Indonesia,” he added. Apart from that, most of the Mitratel towers are connected using a fiber optic network. “Fiber optics is a solution to increase bandwidth capacity and reduce latency,” he explained.
The next solution, continued Hendra, is that Mitratel is working with Telkomsat to provide connectivity solutions using satellite services. According to him, with the support of connectivity via satellite, tower construction can be carried out anywhere, including in remote areas, with quite good quality. “4G services can still be enjoyed, you can enjoy them for video conferencing, video streaming and so on, because they have high bandwidth and low latency,” explained Hendra.
Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Hendra said that the company’s progress so far has proven its vision and mission in implementing environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) principles.
He explained that in the environmental sector, Mitratel has more than 600 off-grid towers that use solar panels. Furthermore, currently the company is also conducting research and development to use solar panels as a power source in on-grid locations with a hybrid model.
With the development of these additional services, this confirms that Mitratel is not only the largest telecommunications tower company in Indonesia but also the tower company with the most complete services in Indonesia.
